We are on day 5 of living in the new house. The downstairs is finally getting organized, yay! Seems like moving in was a little less stressful than moving out, if that's possible. There were delays with the escrow company, pushing our close date back, and leaving not only ticked off mortgaged brokers, but homeowners as well. Jeff didn't get home from FL til the 27th, leaving me to make several trips here solo, to do things like, paint. Which, I have discovered I don't mind doing, but it sucks cause my height. I had a friend come over and install the new faucets I got and a microhood (Thanks Darren!!) and he looked at me on the step ladder while pianting and did kind of giggle because it is fairly straning, but I was being so persistant about it. (wanted it done, man!)
My parents made the drive down from Redmond to help unpack. THey were pretty surprised with how "big" it was. Alot bigger than their first home. Times have changed, and now with the crappy foreclosing market, you can get a good deal on a house, such as we did.
We've gone to Home Depot about 75 times it seems like! Ugh! I'm finally figuring out the layout of the closest one so I can actually find what I'm looking for when I go. I don't want to know how much we've spent, I'm guessing well over a thousand by now. Insane what little things you need, add up so fast! Paint, $20, spackle, $7, stress of a new home, not priceless!
Next on the "to do" list, is purchase Leenas new bedroom furniture. I found one that I LOVE, but we'll see about getting it here. It's so cute and won't age as she will. She's picked out her bedding, which is...wow. Orange, brown, fuschia, white and dark pink. I vetoed the zebra print. I tried to talk her into polka dots, but she wanted the funny looking orange and brown flower thing, so I said ok, it's your room. We've got paint picked out for an accent wall.....which is dark pink. I said she could do the wall that her closet and bedroom door are on, less of an eye sore! She had these rediculous particle board shelving things in her walk in closet, which is HUGE for a 7 year old. Or just in general. Well, My dad and I tore them out. And now we're filling in all the holes from the screws and boards and will touch up the paint.
So far, ALOT of work has been done, alot more to come. We're been kinda poking our heads around and doing homework on a few things. We have funny colored counters. Jeff would like granite put in, so we'll see what happens in time. We're just more focused on getting settled. The living/dining room area is pretty closed to fully settled, and we're just going room by room to not stress ourself out.
We attempted to have the cable set up...I say attempted because the poor direct TV guy came, and we have a defective dish and a bad DVR.....(*cancel, cough, cough* Jeff) However, he came on his day off and spent literally about 5 hours here, figuring that out. He'll be back again Friday. Guess he came on a day off to avoid being behind on a regular work day. The no cable thing is fine, we're ok without it. The other problem that has arose, mailbox. We don't know which one is ours, there is no key left behind, meaning we're screwed. We have to call the postmaster, to figure out which one is ours, and then we have to contact the supervisor of the route. Not coimplicated at all, right? Have to then get it left unlocked (for all to steal our mail of course)and get teh lock replaced. That goes ontop of the dishwasher not working, and then the fridge installers not knowing we have a broken water filter upon install, as well as a freakin flooded interior of a fridge. As well as a broken water valve. But, we got the filter fixed, cleaned up the water, and the valve is being ordered. So, as long as we don't use the in the door water and ice, w'ere fine and it won't happen again.
Whew!! That's alot that's happened!!
Landon has a mysterious CONSTANT fever, usually between 99.3-100.5, nothing higher than that. It's so weird. He just last week has the sniffles a little bit, poor thing, he was miserable. He made it miserable for us to sleep as well. But, he was horribly difficult alot of the time at my parents, diagnosis: Missing Daddysyndrome. Now that Jeff is home, he's been a pretty good baby. Other than fighting his naps with a fierce fight, he's totally happy, and Jeff gets all the smiles, all the laughs, you name it. Ugh! Not fair! Oh well, he was a mommys boy for the 5 weeks at my parents, it's ok if he loves his dad :) Jeff is eating it up. Jeff has some time off from work, so he's spending some good quality time with Landon, and loving every minute. He's crazy about that little boy!
We have Leena this weekend, I'm excited because she hasn't seen the house yet! She's excited to come hang out with Landonand Jeff, she reeeally missed Jeff too. She told me many times she'd count the days til his return, aww :)
Battery is going to die, and I need to go back to bed!
